Our Big Idea

The Reality Bush

You have one thriving in your life right now. Where?

your tree of life

The toughest nut to crack, yes, even tougher than a macadamia, is the nut that grows from the fruit of an unusual tree. The reality bush. You have one thriving in your life right now. Where? Well wherever you look. Wherever you go. The reality bush, your tree of life, is growing everywhere you are.

Now eating of the fruit of this tree is apparently a risky thing to try. Unless you are quite awake and prepared to accept that there is bad fruit with the good fruit. But it can be worth it.

Because the flavour of the nut is nothing short of fabulous. It is scrumptious and amazing. Just plain over the ‘edge’.  If you can only crack the damn thing.

Why should it be so fiercely tough? Because to crack the nut you do have to accept that the reality bush is growing as a result of your personal creativity.

The moment you accept that, then the little beast, the core, the nut, the heart of the thing, just falls open in your hand. You have a sudden realisation that you have been unconsciously nourishing the bush, the tree of life, and tending its growth without the faintest idea that you were doing it.

Being personally creative

Being personally creative then is looking like the unavoidable state of all creatures great and small. Especially great creatures like humans.

Now, I had no intention of making this sound like father Joe’s opening for this Sunday’s sermon. Father Joe though, when in prayer, says “thy will be done”and he doesn’t actually mean you or me.  Our creativity is supposed to be remote, unfathomable  and not personal.

Personal creativity is supposed to be only about accidents. Personal error. The ‘whoops…’ factor in our life. Whoops… bad mistake! Whoops… there I go again. Bummer!

How are we doing this? How are we involved in making real, in making present, the events and perceptions that we experience?

Physical reality is a miracle of self expression

The answer is that we are the mind in which the idea of the event is held.

So, unless we are willing to enlarge, willing to expand on, the the faculty of ‘mind’ itself, then our answer to ‘how’ will fall so far short of meaning and constructive value that we can be left with argument and irritation. We can be left with annoyance from intelligent associates and a deep cynicism about life and mind and the universe. Bummer again!

Physical reality is a miracle of self expression. To live your life the way you want it, is only to allow your self to express the miracle.Non interference. Letting it all hang out. Being that you. Then that you will never be holding back your creativity or vitality. You won’t become a danger to your self or anyone else.

How come? Because, unsurprisingly, the main focus of your attention in your life gives you the life experience that you get each day. The message is “if I can create a problem I can create a solution”.

There can be few surprises though in why you are focussing in that way. What is this main idea that you are holding in your mind?

You can change that if it is giving you events and experiences that you don’t want. When you truly hear that message it is a liberation. The engine starts again and the doors swing open.
